Delta Goodrem looks forward to making Hobart memories in Cats

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

WITH more than 20 years in the entertainment industry behind her, there is little that Delta Goodrem hasn’t already achieved.

But with her first attempt at musical theatre in Cats, Goodrem admits she has found a new love.

“Musicals had never crossed my path before and I just never thought to seek it,” she told the Mercury.

“I’ll look at anything that comes my way and when I met the director I didn’t know Cats or the storyline but I fell in love with it.”

The actor turned pop-starlet stars as “glamour cat” Grizabella in the first professional production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic coming to Hobart next week.

“I met Grizabella and because I hadn’t known Cats prior it’s like I could create my own version as she hadn’t been in my life yet and I understood her at a really deep level. She’s a part of me now.”

The show heads to Hobart off the back of a successful month-long run in Sydney and it will be Goodrem’s first time performing in Hobart since her Visualise Tour in 2005.

“It was a relief to get through Sydney,” she said.

“We get a couple of days off to recharge the batteries and get back into focus again so Hobart will be so much fun.”
