HE has danced at the Superbowl with Katy Perry and performed for US President Barack Obama but dancer Lockhart Brownlie’s next big performance will be here in Tasmania.
Brownlie has forged a stellar dance career, appearing in US television shows True Blood and Glee, dancing with Kate Hudson, Kesha and Taylor Swift, and the aforementioned Perry.
Now he’s home to share a little of who and what he knows.
“I’ve always come back and done classes through studios [so] I wanted to come back and make my own thing and get everyone to come along so there is no competition between each studio,” Brownlie said.
Participants will learn select routines as well as gaining an insight into working as a professional dancer by getting to know Brownlie, who has spent the past five years touring with Katy Perry as a back-up dancer.
Brownlie always wanted to be a performer and is encouraging dancers from Tasmania to pursue their dreams.
“Tasmania has some great talent. I think it’s something that everyone has got to try and see if it’s what they want to do,” he said.
Based in Los Angeles, Brownlie will rejoin Perry in South America to conclude her Prismatic World Tour in September.
